Laines Du Nord's Matera yarn is 100% made from Italian Merino Gentile wool.
It is a particularly fine wool, obtained from sheep reared in Southern Italy, more precisely between Puglia, Molise and Abruzzo. The Gentile di Puglia is a historical breed, with a prevalent aptitude for the production of wool and which gives rise to a yarn with high quality characteristics.
Mulesing free certified, 0 km supply chain and entirely traced, it is purchased directly from some local producers who are first of all attentive to the life of animals that live in extensive farms, feeding exclusively on seasonal haymaking to obtain a better quality of the product.
Matera stands out for being a very resistant yarn, with fine fibers reaching up to 21 microns, surprisingly anti-pilling and smooth on the needles. In balls of 50 gr., Matera is worked with needles meas. 4-4.5 and is suitable for winter garments, or braids, “fair Isle”, Nordic motifs. The color chart, with warm and delicate shades, favors the combinations of several colors mixed together.
