Today I want to tell you about a yarn that I love very much,

Cotton Merino Drops

Already from its name you can guess its composition: 50% cotton 50% merino, gr. 50 per mt. 110.

                               

I like it because it is an excellent compromise for those who don't really like the "warmth of pure wool" and therefore that 50% cotton retains the right warmth to be worn from autumn to spring and even in some cool summer evening, in short, a yarn for all Seasons !

The project I made with this yarn is the “One hundred and eighty minutes and beyond” shawl created by me, with 5 balls of COTTON MERINO with 24 and circular needles n.4,5.

                                                                                                                                                  


It is a shawl with a particular shape, worked from the top (top down) and with lateral increases that form two triangles worked in garter stitch.
The central motif is very simple, they look like braids, but they're not. I found this stitch in an old book "Knitting needles and crochet" by Maria Rosa Giani from 1964, it belonged to my dearest mother.

The closure, to give it stability, is a picot.
