Conversion tables for knitting needles and crochet hooks

The first step, after choosing the yarn, is to use the needles or crochet hooks of the correct size.

The bands or labels on the balls always show this type of indication.

The measures indicated always refer first of all to the thickness and never to the length: this could vary according to the project to be carried out.

You may encounter different numbers on the same ball or different indications on different yarns but of the same thickness; why? Because there are different metric systems of reference!

In Europe millimeters are indicated, in the United States digits from 0 to 50 are used and in England and Canada digits between 18 and 000.
